Also known as Starflower Scabious or 'Sternkugel', this is a gorgeous mini-work of art.
It is so unusual and hardworking. First, it is truly beautiful as a delicate, pale blue flower which the bees adore and it makes a wonderful cut flower. But leave the flowers and something magical happens, as it becomes an unbelievably stunning seed head....little spheres of otherworldly loveliness.
You can cut and keep the seed heads for dried flower arrangements and if you spray them lightly with hairspray they will last months if not years. I love to use them as beautiful, interesting table decorations.
Scabiosa stellata is a hardy annual and so can be sown in spring or autumn.

Sow Seeds: Sow indoors in March-April or September. Sow onto the surface of good quality compost, cover by the depth of the seeds and keep moist. The seeds need warmth to germinate.

Sowed the Dahlia Seeds last week - (in a suitable Pot on the Kitchen Window Sill - which serves as my greenhouse) the sturdy little Dahlia seeds were through in two days and are looking very healthy and happy! Obviously very fresh seeds in the packet.
The Sanctuary wax melts have a lovely spa fragrance that lasts for ages. Loved them so much I ordered more. I haven't tried the lemon and ginger yet. Excellent quality and service.
