Why we grow it

  • Silver-green foliage stems with the familiar eucalyptus scent
  • The scent softens over the first few weeks but never disappears entirely
  • Structural enough to build an arrangement around
  • Works equally in a modern vase and a rustic jug
  • Keep out of direct sun to hold the silvered tone
  • Barn-dried, with no glycerine or preservative treatment

About this bunch

Silvery blue-green leaves on straight architectural stems, in bunches of 3 at 50 to 80cm, trimmable to whatever you need. It is the one dried stem that will carry an arrangement on its own in a plain glass vase, and it works equally well as the green base underneath a larger dried bouquet.

This one is preserved rather than simply air-dried, which sets it apart from the rest of our range. The stems go through a glycerin mix and are then air-dried, and the difference is in the handling: the leaves stay leathery and flexible rather than going brittle, so the stems bend onto a wreath frame without snapping and lie flat down a table runner. It also means these are not the undyed, nothing-added product our own barn-dried bunches are, and it is worth knowing which you are buying.

The stems are either Eucalyptus cinerea, the round-leaved Silver Dollar or Baby Blue, or Eucalyptus parvifolia, the fine-leaved sort, chosen for leaf shape and durability. Which one you get varies, and so do leaf shape and stem size from bunch to bunch. Kept dry and out of direct sun they hold their colour for years rather than the week a fresh stem gives you.

Perfect for all my needs

I sent for this not sure about how robust it might be and whether it had kept its characteristic colour. I need not have worried it’s perfect.
