They are attractive to wildlife, have a long flowering period, and make good cut flowers.

Sow Seeds

mid-April undercover.  Sow thinly onto the surface of the compost and keep them somewhere light and warm.  Transfer seeds, when large enough to handle, into pots and grow in a sheltered spot or cold frame.  It can also be sown in the autumn for earlier flowers the following spring.
