Twenty-four packets of our favourite cottage garden flowers, chosen to give you a full year of colour and something to sow in every season. This is the collection built for abundance — succession sowing, fuller borders, and a rolling display from the first warm days of spring right through to the autumn frosts.
The range is what makes it work. Hardy annuals carry the first summer: Cosmos, Cornflower 'Pink Ball', Corncockle 'Bianca', Calendula 'Wintersun', Gypsophila, Nigella, Scabious, Phlox and Swan River Daisies. Biennials fill the following spring and the June gap when most borders go quiet — Honesty, Rose Campion, Sweet William, Sweet Rocket, white Forget-me-not and Hollyhock 'Nigra'. Perennials such as Achillea 'Cerise Queen', Echinops, Oxeye Daisy and Gaura 'The Bride' settle in and return for years. Two sweet peas, 'Swan Lake' and 'Old Spice Starry Night', cover the scent.
Sowing Across the Seasons
Sow the hardy annuals in spring for flowers the same summer, the biennials in June or July for the year after, and the perennials any time from spring once you know where they are going. Sow a few at a time rather than all at once and you keep the display rolling instead of getting one flush and then a gap. Full instructions are printed on every packet.
