Genus Capsicum Chinense
Scoville Rating/Heat Level The Carolina Reaper held the Guinness World Record for the hottest chilli pepper from 2013 to 2023. It boasts an average Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of around 1,641,183 SHU, with some individual chillies reaching over 2.2 million SHU. To put that in perspective, a jalapeño pepper measures between 2,500 and 8,000 SHU.
Plant Size Typically grows to about four feet tall.
Pod Size The pods are typically small, about 1-2 inches long, with a bumpy, gnarled texture. They often have a distinctive pointed "scorpion tail."
Flavour Despite the overwhelming heat, the Carolina Reaper is said to have a fruity and slightly sweet flavour before the intense burn kicks in.
Growing Conditions

These plants thrive in warm and sunny conditions, with temperatures above 21°C. They require well-drained soil and regular watering
