Ipomoea purpurea 'Heavenly Blue' is one of the morning glory kinds that is among the most desired after. Its buds are lengthy and tightly furled, but when the morning sunlight hits them, they gradually unfurl themselves into gigantic sky-blue trumpets with clear white and yellow throats. Each blossom only lasts for one day, yet new ones appear in rapid succession after it.
Although though it is technically a perennial plant, Ipomoea purpurea 'Heavenly Blue' is most successfully grown as an annual. It is simple to cultivate and can be planted directly where the flowers are to be produced, preferably in soil that is rich in moisture but has good drainage and is exposed to direct sunlight.
