A mix of brightly coloured dwarf Dahlias, wonderful for the flowerbed, as a cut flower and bringing stunning late summer colour to the garden.
Beautiful, vibrant and superb as a bedding plant, growing to 40cm in height. They will flower throughout late summer and autumn.
Growing Dahlias from seed is not difficult but they will need warmth to germinate and should not be planted out until all risk of frost has passed.
- Seed Quantity: 40 Seeds
- Type: Annual
- Genus: Dahlia variabilis
-
Sow Seeds: Sow February-April into moist compost and cover lightly with compost or vermiculite. Keep at 18-20 degrees and germination will take anywhere between 5-20 days. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them to larger pots and grow in cooler conditions.
- Plant Out: Acclimatise over 2-3 weeks before finally planting out when all risk of frost has passed. In Autumn prune back the stems and lift the tubers. These can be overwintered in a cool (frost-free) place and replanted the following spring when all risk of frost has gone.
- Flowers: July-October
- Height & Spread: 40cm high x 30cm spread
